Getting to know Kristin is like making a friend in college. She's a great partner in business who analyzes problems and brings thoughtful reflection to every challenge. Yet, in the same breath she also brings unwavering enthusiasm to her team and the customers she supports.
What is your role at Hanzo?
My role at Hanzo is that of Business Analyst. In this role, my purpose in life is to take the strategic vision of product management and turn this vision into a tactical plan for the development team to act on.
What problems are you currently solving and How does it benefit the customer?
Right now, the customer experience is what I think about every day. As with any new product on the market, you have to reflect on and anticipate everything a customer might encounter both positive and negative. I am constantly occupied with how to make Hanzo Hold (legal hold solution for enterprise Slack data) as accessible for each customer as possible. No matter what their background is, whether they are experienced in technology or legal, or simply learning the industry, their experience should be satisfying.
What is your favorite aspect of working for a legal technology company?
Hands down, I feel blessed by the awesome people I get to work with, both internally and externally. There is always something new to learn and this industry has a true passion for details.
What is your philosophy about problem-solving/work/ life?
My philosophy is to take the time to think through the other side of the issue. I find working through both sides and asking what makes a given situation a problem or why do others think it is not a problem, yields useful information and insight. Considering why something is happening also presents data that is useful in troubleshooting and coming up with win-win solutions.
What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working?
Not only does Kristin cheer for the the drum corps, she used to be a part of one too. Here's a video from her last performance. She's on the far right.
What brought you to Hanzo?
I really appreciate Hanzo's philosophy of remote work and finding the right person for the job regardless of location. Not every company culture embraces this philosophy and practice, but to have an employer with a remote workforce, is to have an employer that trusts their employees.
Where do you live?
I live in northwest Iowa. Here's a fun fact. Did you know that Iowa is the only U. S. state that has two parallel rivers defining its borders, the Mississippi River on the eastern border and the Missouri River, and its tributary the Big Sioux on the western border? Now you know.
Favorite place to take guests to experience the best of your city?
Any day that is patriotic, out my front door to see the flag display in town.
What person or character in a book or movie do you admire most and why?
I admire Harry Stamper (played by Bruce Willis) from the movie Armageddon.
Here's why I think he's a remarkable character:
- Was considered the best in the world, but still got his hands dirty
- Acknowledged that he was only the best because of who he was surrounded by
- Had the confidence to stand up for what he believed in, whether it was defending why an Armadillo was burning up transmissions or questioning who wrote the “U.S. Air Force Personnel Only" drill time card
- Was able to ask for help when he needed it
- When it came down to it, it was his ass on the line and he wouldn’t let anyone else take that fall
