ACEDS and Hanzo have partnered for the second year in a row to survey the market on the use of collaboration data for discovery and litigation. During this webinar, we shared the latest results from this year’s benchmark survey.
In the first annual Collaboration Data Benchmark Survey, we established the increasing importance of collaboration tools such as Slack and Microsoft Teams for corporate communications. We expected this trend to increase based on 55% of last year’s respondents anticipating increasing reliance on collaboration tools.
Since last year, the use of collaboration platforms has become more pervasive in companies supporting remote and hybrid working environments and are now making an appearance on the ediscovery scene.
In this survey, Hanzo and ACEDS have established the first industry benchmark for collaboration data as a source for discovery, assessing organizational readiness for litigation response now and in the future. The panelists discussed these important survey findings and analyzed what these benchmarks suggest regarding organization preparedness for responding to preservation and discovery obligations.

Mike Quartararo is the President of the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS), which provides training and certification in e-discovery to the legal community. He is the author of the 2016 book Project Management in Electronic Discovery and has been successfully consulting in information governance, e-discovery, project management, and legal technology for two decades, including 10-year stints at both Skadden Arps and Stroock. He is a certified Project Management Professional and a Certified E-Discovery Specialist. He frequently writes and speaks on e-discovery, legal operations, project management, and technology topics.
