Questions about the ethical use of social media data have significantly hindered the use of social media APIs. With them, basic social collections tools that were simply pulling data out of social APIs suddenly broke, leaving their customers looking for a better way.
Hanzo has worked with many former X1 customers to collect and preserve of social media and other dynamic web evidence responsibly, ensuring that they have the most forensically sound method of social media preservation available today.
Is there a better, faster way to conduct an online investigation? In this pocket guide you'll explore the possibilities, including:
- Where to start: Data sources that turn up rich data.
- What to consider: Ethical and logistical factors.
- How to generate vibrant reports: Formats and reports to package your results.
Both Hanzo and X1 Social Discovery deliver many of the same feature sets for archiving social, web and HTML content. Hanzo offers a native-first approach though both products offer a comprehensive software solution capable of improving staff efficiencies, lower operating costs and risk reduction in accurate eDiscovery and forensic investigations.
Hanzo captures more web and social media content types, including JavaScript capture and playback, as well as identical feature sets across SaaS and On-Premise product instances. In contrast, X1 is delivered as desktop software.
Hanzo instead takes a modern web user experience, giving the user WYSIWYG visibility to content and archives for both social media and websites. Importantly, this leads to differences in preservation techniques, where X1 users must be cognizant of whether they are looking at 'live' web content or preserved web content. Hanzo clients know they will see only properly preserved web and social media content. Hanzo also provides legal exports that do not require complex reconstitution of meta text, tags, data structures etc. This is a primary reason why Hanzo archives are easily imported into or directly integrated with Relativity for eDiscovery. Finally, Hanzo leverages the proven benchmark of AWS for Cloud Services while X1 users are often dependent on the X1 partner for security.
X1 places a heavier focus on social media mapping and reporting, whereas Hanzo focuses on providing an all-in-one solution for preserving all web and social media content. Although X1 offers highly rated desktop search software, the Hanzo platform continues to evolve to meet customer needs by utilizing new technology like artificial intelligence to address the ever-increasing amount of data on the web.
